About Us At BluPrairie Native Plant Nursery
We have been working with native plants for over 20 years. As we grow and gain more knowledge about native plants and their role in the natural world, we have been incorporating that knowledge in everything we do here at BluPrairie.
First, our native plants are produced from seed collected from local sources that are harvested on-site at our location or, with permission, from local landowners. However, any seeds we are not able to collect, we purchase from reputable native seed producers. Other plant species we work with are propagated by vegetative means using our own source of plants.

Blue-spotted salamanders found here in Minnesota are indicative that the environment is healthy for them to thrive. We have lots of them here! Cute little guys even help eradicate worms!
At BluPrairie, we incorporate the use organic methods for production. Moreover, you can be sure that we never use neonicotinoids in our nursery or the surrounding area. Some of the plants you purchase from us may have some of the leaves nibbled on by larvae, and as such, we do not consider them pests. We welcome them because they are part of the whole picture of our plant heritage, our natural world. By emphasizing sustainable propagation techniques, we can ensure that our native plants will thrive and support our local ecosystems.
